Will your products and supply chain stand-up to RoHS/WEEE?
Have
you mitigated the risks to your revenue and supply chain?
How
will you validate that your manufacturers, suppliers, and
other
supply chain partners are in compliance?
|
Products that are shipped to the EU after July 2006 must comply with the European RoHS directive (PDF). This mandate severely limits the use of six hazardous substances, including lead (Pb), Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, PBBs, and PBDEs in many products and components.
Manufacturers are fully accountable for ensuring that their products are compliant, and according to the UK government, "Failure to comply with the requirements of the UK's RoHS Regulations will result in the removal of manufacturers' products from the market place." Similar requirements will also appear in China, Taiwan, Japan, several US states, and around the world.
The supply chain turmoil will affect all electronics manufacturers and their suppliers, even those that are exempt. The fast approaching deadline leaves no room for errors and miscalculations, which is why you must do it right the first time.
While there are industry events that provide general information by service providers pitching their services, we believe that at this stage, “information” is not enough. You need “how to” methodologies and tools that help guide your transition efforts.
In this workshop, "How to Transition Your Products and Supply Chain for RoHS/WEEE Compliance," Symphony Consulting will help you develop a do-it-yourself plan that enables you to mitigate the risks associated with this transition as it relates to your revenue and inventory exposure. We will provide you with the tools, methodologies, and best practices that will enable you to:
1. Understand the impact of the directives on your products,
2. Develop
a transition strategy,
3. Meet supplier "due diligence" obligations,
4. Assess risks, and
5. Execute your plan.
You will also have an opportunity to interact with other OEMs and their suppliers to gain further insight to "best practices" for issues such as part re-numbering, potential difficulties with new materials, and auditing suppliers. Additionally, all attendees of this workshop will be invited to join a private, online discussion forum where they can interact with their peers, ask questions, and share knowledge.
Symphony has also created a RoHS Supplier Audit and Assessment Tool to assist in the assessment of your suppliers’ readiness for compliance.
You can also download a copy of our white paper, "Transition to RoHS: The Seven Common Pitfalls to Avoid."
